Mrs. America 2015 pageant to be held in Sevastopol

The 39th national Mrs. America pageant will be held in Sevastopol, the capital city of the recently annexed Crimean peninsula, in 2015, according to Alexei Romanov, the executive director of Mrs. World Russia.

Romanov told an ITAR-TASS correspondent that the contest will take place in conjunction with the national Mrs. World Russia 2015 pageant.

David Marmel, president of the Mrs. America and Mrs. World pageants, is a big admirer of Russia, Romanov said. Marmel announced his decision to host the next pageant in Sevastopol at the latest Mrs. America 2014 pageant, which recently took place in Tucson, Arizona.

Representatives of all the country's states will travel to Sevastopol with their husbands, children, and friends, who will cheer them on and relax on the Black Sea Coast, Marmel said. This will serve as a good illustration to the whole world that Crimea is a safe, hospitable, and peaceful place, he said.

Mrs. World Russia 2015 will be held in parallel with Mrs. America 2015. Over 100 married beauties will spend 10 days in Crimea, where in addition to preparing for the pageant, they will visit local attractions, tour children’s educational and health institutions, and demonstrate their creative and artistic abilities.

As per tradition, all of the events accompanying the pageants, as well as the pageant itself, will be broadcast in over 70 countries, Romanov said.

“We are confident that the hosting of the American pageant in Crimea will evoke major interest. We will have two groups of participants, two juries, and two winners, who will join hands in a sign of friendship on the final day of the show,” said Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the Mrs. World Russia pageant, Alexander Krestnikov.
