Russia, China to hold naval drills in South China Sea – report

The drills will be held in September 2016.

Russia and China are planning to hold routine naval drills in the South China Sea in September 2016, Reuters reported, citing a Chinese Defense Ministry spokesman.

The two countries have stepped up defense cooperation over the last decade, with China being one of the largest importers of Russian weapons. 

The Chinese and Russian armed forces also regularly conduct drills and war games.
