The Telegraph chooses Russia’s Northern capital as a must-see city.

White Nights and scenes from the BBC adaptation of War and Peace are among the main reasons you should visit St. Petersburg in June, the Telegraph writes.

The newspaper suggests visiting the Mariinsky Theater for an opera or ballet performance, watching a fireworks display over the Neva River and enjoying the long days during the White Nights period. British travel critics recommend staying at the fully renovated Art Nouveau Astoria Hotel.

St. Petersburg has already been recognized internationally as one of the best cities for travelers. The Hermitage is ranked among the 10 best museums in the world by Tripadvisor.

The city of embankments and museums is often called the cultural capital of Russia. The June White Nights festival offers visitors a special opportunity to take extra long walks around all of the city’s treasures.
