The longest-running Russian book series this year celebrates 75 years since being revived by Maxim Gorky. First published in 1890, "Lives of Great Men" releases between 20 and 30 volumes a year, devoted to a range of historical figures, including Francis Bacon, Charles Darwin and Oliver Cromwell. Written by leading writers of the day, highlights have included Homer by philosopher Alexei Losev and The Life of Monsieur de Moliere by Mikhail Bulgakov
