During the annual Night at the Museum event, locals and tourists alike had the opportunity to attend a number of exhibitions and performances in some of the Russian capital’s most beautiful and interesting spaces.

Moscow may not be known as the city that never sleeps, but on May 19, many Muscovites stayed up all night gallery-hopping through the Russian capital’s museums and galleries.  During the annual Night at the Museum, many galleries opened their doors to special performances and exhibits, extending their hours well past the usual closing time. Additionally, most museums waived the entrance fee for visitors.

The event brought together approximately 750,000 people and 180 locations, including the State Tretyakov Gallery, the Multimedia Art Museum, the Tsaritsyno, Kolomenskoye and Ismailovo museums, the Retro Cars Museum, the Great Patriotic War Museum, the Museum of GULAG History, the Mayakovsky and Bulgakov museums, the ARTPLAY Design Center, Modern Art Center “Vinzavod” and many others.
