Russia Beyond the Headlines, an international media project featuring political, economic and cultural coverage of Russia, announces the launch of its English-language web project targeted at readers in East and Southeast Asia, http://rbth.asia.
The new site was founded on RBTH’s Hong Kong website, which launched in February 2012 along with the project’s English-language supplement Russia and Greater China in the South China Morning Post. The new site will build upon RBTH’s partnership with the South China Morning Post by focusing on the latest events and trends inside Russia and the country’s relations with Asia.
The site will feature leading authors and bloggers such as noted Philippine artist and activist Carlos Serdan, top Korea expert Andrei Lankov, former RIA Novosti Indonesia correspondent Mikhail Tsiganov and a number of respected Asian and Russian businesspeople, scientists and politicians.
The project is aimed at the urban middle class in East and Southeast Asia, including Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and the Philippines.
The project will also promote future print supplements by RBTH in the region, including supplements in Singapore, Korea, Australia and Taiwan, which are to be launched in the near future.
“Asia has played an important role historically for Russia. Therefore we attach special value to being able to directly tell our Eastern neighbors about life in Russia and our accomplishments. We hope RBTH will become a source of relevant and interesting information about Russia for Asian readers,” said RBTH Chief Executive Editor Pavel Golub.
