Putin orders development of criteria for rating universities

Russian President Vladimir Putin has given the Education and Science Ministry until October 1, 2012 to develop criteria for compiling a national rating of leading universities both in Russia and abroad, the Kremlin press service reported.

The ministry was instructed to work together with the country's Academies of Sciences, associations of employers, as well as internationally renowned educational experts and scholars.

They will also have to offer mechanisms for using such a rating to assess the performance of Russian higher education institutions.
