Russky Island, which is due to host this year’s APEC summit off the coast of Vladivostok, is being considered as the location for two special economic zones (SEZs) focused on tourism and manufacturing. Construction of a brand new campus for the Far Eastern Federal University is currently nearing completion on Russky; the campus will host APEC leaders during the summit.
The two technoparks will be invariably linked with students and faculty at the University, said Special Economic Zones General Director Oleg Kostin, and were proposed following an international competition on developing SEZs on the island following the Summit.
