Russia, Pakistan call for Syrian crisis to be resolved without outside intervention

Russia and Pakistan are calling for the Syrian conflict to be resolved peacefully by the Syrians themselves and for swift fulfillment of the United Nations Security Council (UN SC) resolutions on Syria, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

"Russian First Deputy Foreign Minister [Andrei] Denisov met with Pakistan's First Deputy Foreign Minister [Jalil] Gilani in Moscow on August 6," the ministry said on its website on Tuesday.

"The diplomats exchanged their views on the situation in and around Syria. The parties emphasized the need for strict compliance with the UN Security Council resolutions on this issue and the final document of the Geneva meeting, and swift cessation of violence wherever it is coming from," the ministry said.

"(The parties) also stressed the importance of Syria's domestic problems being resolved by the Syrians themselves, without outside interference, peacefully, through a broad dialogue aimed at achieving a national accord regarding the country's future," the Foreign Ministry said.
