UN's Ban admits militants' responsibility for escalation of violence in Syria's Aleppo - Russian diplomat

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has acknowledged that militants are responsible for the escalation of violence in Aleppo, northern Syria, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov said in commenting on Ban's letter sent to the UN Security Council members on Friday evening.

"UN secretary-general makes unbiased judgments about situation in Syria; acknowledges that conflict in Aleppo escalated by militants," Gatilov said on Twitter.

"Important that UN secretary-general backs preservation of UN presence, which provides impartial information on situation in country, maintains contacts with parties," he said.
