The head of Russia's National Olympic Committee, Alexander Zhukov, said Russian athletes should start training already for the Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
"We have very good chances in Rio de Janeiro. Preparations for the Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro must get started right now," Zhukov said at a press conference at Interfax on Wednesday.
Assessing the Russian national team's performance in London, Zhukov said, 'the team is young and holds much promise." "We have expanded out potential in many sports and started competing for medals where we had none previously," Zhukov said. "But we have lost more than we gained in individual sports," he said, adding that Russia did not win any medals in shooting, fencing and weight-lifting. "There are sports where we did not show impressive results before and did not accomplish any breakthroughs at the London Olympic Games, " he said.
