A national Islamic television channel, Al-RTV, was launched in Russia on Sunday, on Uraza-Bayram holiday, which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan. The new television channel has been organized on the initiative of Russia's major Muslim organizations and its goal is to bring the Islamic values to the broad public and to demonstrate the peaceful essence of this religion. The channel will be based on public television principles and its strategy will be planned by the Public Council.
The Al-RTV channel's Public Council is comprised of the head of the Council of Muftis, Ravil Gainutdin and Tatarstan Mufti Ildus Faizov, who was attacked recently, as well as First Vice Chairman of the Muslim Board of Russia, Moscow and the Central Region Mufti Albir Krganov, and the North Caucasus Coordinating Muslim Center's envoy in Russia, Mufti Shafig Pshikhachev.
