Five people have been wounded in a shootout that occurred in Stavropol's Yuzhny market on Wednesday, Yevgeny Arnautov, the head of the Interior Ministry's Main Department for the Stavropol Territory, told reporters. All of these people were hospitalized, he said.
"Five or six unidentified persons came to the market and got into an argument with a salesman. They got out weapons and started shooting. Five people were wounded in the shootout. The men left the market," the official said.
Arnautov said the men had left the scene in a car. The owner and make of the car have already been determined. The police are looking for the men.
The city's Hospital N4, where the victims were taken, said doctors are now evaluating their condition.
"Five people have been hospitalized. They are now going through X-ray, and therefore it is too early to say anything about their condition," a doctor told reporters.
The Interior Ministry earlier reported that one person had been wounded.
