Volunteers start working on Russky Island ahead of APEC Vladivostok summit

The APEC Vladivostok summit press center personnel are giving instructions to volunteers. The first group of volunteers came to Russky Island on Thursday, the Primorye territorial department for youth affairs reports.

The volunteers will assist media accreditation and provide badges to APEC summit participants. They will also help the working group on material supplies and logistics, the report said.

Meanwhile, the Vladivostok State University of Economics and Service reported that volunteers were coming to Vladivostok from all regions of Russia.

The volunteers will accompany Russian and foreign delegations, help organize cultural events and sightseeing tours, translate, assist the media and work at the airport. Volunteers, who come to Vladivostok from other cities, will not only have a fascinating work at the summit but also tour the Vladivostok old city, go on boat trips and other interesting excursions. The volunteers are young people from Moscow, St. Petersburg, Chita, Astrakhan, Chelyabinsk, Blagoveshchensk, Khabarovsk, other cities of the Primorye territory, Buryatia, Kazan and the Sochi training center.

The best volunteers will take part in the Kazan University Games 2013 and the Sochi Winter Olympic Games 2014.
