People's Party leader Oleg Mitvol announces bid for Khimki mayor

Green Alliance - People's Party leader Oleg Mitvol, who is also a former deputy chief of the Russian consumer rights watchdog (Rospotrebnadzor), has filed documents for his registration as a candidate for mayor of Khimki, a town in the Moscow region, Moscow regional electoral commission chairman Irek Vildanov told Interfax.

"This brings the total number of contenders for the Khimki mayor's office to 12," Vildanov said.

Earlier registration documents were filed by Democratic Party leader Vyacheslav Smirnov, independents Andrei Rybin, Vladimir Yenikeyev, Tatyana Dmitriyeva, Yury Pozdnyakov, Sergei Khodyrev, scientist Ilya Noskov and journalist Anatoly Baranov (Communists of Russia Party), Green Party candidate Alexei Gusenkov, Russian Industrial Corpus representative Alexei Aleinikov and Khimki Forest campaign leader Yevgeniya Chirikova.
