Development of the natural gas market in Russia is one of the issues on the agenda for a planned meeting of the presidential commission on energy late next month, the energy minister said on Saturday.
Development of a major natural gas field postponed by Gazprom
"The presidential commission will give consideration to several matters, and one of them is the development of the natural gas market. The situation with the world market and further prospects for the Russian market will be considered. The problem needs a comprehensive approach," Alexander Novak told Interfax.
After this it would be possible to get down to proposals for stopping Gazprom monopolizing gas exports, he said.
"It's quite a complicated, hard issue. While some people say [Gazprom's monopoly] shouldn't be abolished, independent producers say it should. The problem can't be solved just like that, without analysis. Everything should be worked through," Novak said.
