Ambassador McFaul: U.S. does not sponsor Russian opposition
U.S. President Barack Obama's administration does not fund the Russian opposition at all, U.S. Ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul told the Vladivostok public on Monday.
The U.S. has never given a kopeck to opposition blogger Alexei Navalny, Liberal Democratic Party leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky or Communist Party leader Gennady Zyuganov, he said.
The ambassador said he daily reads Twitter postings, which claimed the U.S. Department of State was sponsoring the Russian opposition. This is not true; one should not believe that, he said.
