Medvedev signs resolution to establish Russian Public Television

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has signed a resolution establishing an autonomous non-profit organization entitled Russian Public Television, the government's press service reported on Friday.

The prime minister's resolution came as a follow-up to a presidential decree, dated April 17, 2012, entitled "On Public Television in the Russian Federation".

The government will act as the new organization's founder on behalf of the Russian Federation.

The entity's charter was confirmed as well, making the autonomous non-profit organization the founder, editorial office and broadcaster of the Russian Public Television channel.

The Communications and Mass Media Ministry, the Economic Development Ministry and the Finance Ministry were ordered to formulate proposals on how to form the Russian Federation's asset contribution to the organization in 2012 and submit them to the government.

The general director of the autonomous non-profit organization and the Justice Ministry were given two weeks to register the organization in accordance with the established procedure.
