Gazprom: Step forward taken in gas negotiations with China

Gazprom chief Alexei Miller met in Moscow Thursday with representative of China's National Development and Reform Commission Zhang Ping and China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) President Zhou Jiping, saying afterwards, "Today we took a step forward."

During the talks, the terms for organizing pipeline deliveries of Russian gas and liquefied natural gas to China and the results of the Altai gas pipeline design and research work were discussed, a Gazprom statement says.

Gazprom and CNPC have been negotiating for many years over the price of gas for China. Internal regulated prices In Podnebesnaya are lower, so CNPC does not agree to pay the European price Gazprom is asking. Not long ago, China offered to consider an integrated approach (not just gas sales, but also its transport, storage, and distribution) to gas sales in the most dynamically developing regions of the country.
