Russia is discontent with the U.S. failure to inform it about the arrest of Russian citizens amongst other suspects in the so-called "spy case", Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich told a Thursday press briefing.
"We have serious questions about the failure of the U.S. authorities to properly notify Russian consular departments about the arrest of our compatriots," he said.
He said the Russian Embassy in Washington DC and the Consulate General in Houston were working on a consular meeting with all Russian citizens arrested within that case.
"Up till now our consul has had a brief meeting with only one Russian at the courtroom, where the decision on their arrest was made," Lukashevich said.
A group of individuals, among them Russian citizens, was arrested in Houston on suspicions of illegal exports of microelectronic devices, Lukashevich said. The United States explained that the charges were purely criminal and had nothing to do with intelligence, he said.
