North Caucasus mountain peak to be named after Putin

North Ossetian mountain climbers have set up Russian President Vladimir Putin's portrait on an unnamed mountain peak in the North Caucasus.

Ten mountain climbers have ascended a 4,150 meter-high mountain peak in the Alania national park in the Digori Gorge of North Ossetia and set up three Russian national flags on it, North Ossetian Mountain Climbers Federation head Kazbek Khamitsayev told Interfax.

"Putin's four-by-six meters plastic portrait was put up on a rocky wall nearby," Khamitsayev said.

The mountain peak will be named after Putin, he said.
