Gazprom officials says that the company will work with Asia-Pacific on same principles as with Europe

Gazprom will work with Asia-Pacific countries on the same principles as with European consumers, Alexei Miller, said in an interview with the Russia 24 TV channel.

"In any case we'll be working exactly the same in the Asia-Pacific region, on the basis of long-term contracts and a pricing mechanism that is coupled to oil prices," Miller said.

Miller said Gazprom was capable of boosting gas supplies to the Asia-Pacific region quickly. "I'd like to say also that we could increase supplies of Russian gas for export to the Asia-Pacific countries, comparable to supplies to Europe, in a very short space of time," he said.

"Given that we currently have a very large European market - around 150 billion cubic meters of gas - it's clear that we could grow gas exports to the Asia-Pacific region at a significantly faster pace than supplies to the European market," he said.

Regarding Japan, Miller said Gazprom could supply liquefied gas there "in the sort of volumes that the Japanese market requires."
