Russian-Indian anti-piracy drills to take place in India in late 2012 - early 2013

Russia and India will hold naval anti-piracy drills in late 2012 - early 2013 near the Indian port of Mumbai, Russian Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov told journalists.

"We reached agreement on holding such drills in the future," Serdyukov said in the wake of a meeting of the Russian-Indian intergovernmental commission for military and technical cooperation.

The Wednesday negotiations "confirmed a fruitful manner of bilateral military and technical cooperation. The were held in a traditionally friendly and confidential manner," he said.

The meeting also saw summing up results of Russian-Indian joint action in the military and technical sphere in the past year. Primary tasks for the future were also set. The Russian and Indian defense ministers signed a protocol in this sphere at the talks.
