Sobchak says opposition has no objective coverage in Russian media

Television journalist Kseniya Sobchak says she is against foreign sponsorship of the protest movement, but believes that opposition activities in Russia receive no objective coverage in the mass media.

"I agree that opposition leaders have no right to take money from citizens of other countries, including countries with which we have no diplomatic relations," Sobchak said in the Russian Public Chamber where the film "Anatomy of Protest-2" was discussed on Friday.

At the same time, the television journalist said what really demands discussion is not the content of the film, but the censorship existing in the country that prevents journalists from objectively reporting on opposition activities and making films criticizing the authorities such as "Anatomy of Protest."

"Let other opposition journalists create their materials and we will have a subject for discussion," Sobchak said.

Sobchak also said such discussions should take place "on federal channels, where such materials are presented, not in the Public Chamber."
