United Russia supporters stage illegal rally in Sverdlovsk region

Seventy or so supporters of the United Russia party joined an unauthorized protest over the results of the Oct. 14 local election outside the city administration building in Aramil, the Sverdlovsk region.

The protesters expressed their disagreement with the victory of a candidate from A Just Russia Party in the city's mayoral elections, a source in law enforcement agencies told Interfax on Friday Twenty-six policemen patrolled the venue. Protocols of administrative offences were compiled against eight demonstrators.

Elections were held in 24 municipalities of the Sverdlovsk region on Oct. 14.
