Aeroflot cancels flights from Moscow to New York due to hurricane

Aeroflot airlines has cancelled its Moscow-New York flights (SU 100/101 and SU 102/103) on Monday and Tuesday due to Hurricane Sandy, its press service reported on Monday.

"Note to passengers in New York: we request you not to travel to the airport until the renewal of flights. Aeroflot flights to other destinations in the United States continue without any changes," the report says.

U.S. airlines have cancelled hundreds of domestic flights along the East Coast due to approaching Hurricane Sandy. New York airports will be open on Monday but their administration has warned passengers about possible delays.

During the weekend the number of Hurricane Sandy victims in the Caribbean rose to 58. Weather forecasts assume that the hurricane will reach the northeast of the United States on Monday. In the heart of the hurricane gushes reach 120 km/h. It could grow even stronger when it meets with a cyclone moving from the western part of the United States.

A state of emergency has been declared in the states of New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia and in D.C.
