"This sphere is heavily misbalanced, and we will continue looking for approaches to tackle emerging problems and will not permit their politicization," Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at a joint session of the Russian and Belarusian Foreign Ministries on Tuesday.
"There is no room for any double standards in this issue," he said.
Lavrov also advised countries against imposing unilateral approaches to human rights on other states.
Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei, for his part, said he was troubled by the West's criticism of his country's human rights record.
"In our opinion, there is a lot more we can do together in this area," he said.
Both Lavrov and Makei expressed concern over other countries' attempts to falsify history.
