The Russian sailors who were freed in Nigeria after being kidnapped by sea pirates are feeling well.
"The sailors from the French towboat Bourbon Liberty 249 - six Russians and one citizen of Estonia, who were abducted by Nigerian pirates on October 15 and were released [today] - are feeling well and have everything they need. They will return home in the near future," the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Thursday.
"The Russian side is grateful to its Nigerian, French, Luxembourgian and Estonian partners for their close cooperation and efficient coordinated efforts, which helped release the hostages promptly and safely," the ministry said.
The towboat Bourbon Liberty 249, designed to supply oil rigs and owned by French company Bourbon, was attacked by pirates in Nigeria's territorial waters on October 15. Six Russians and one Estonian citizen were abducted from the vessel.
