Roskomnadzor gets 5,000 reports on child pornography sites in 24 hours

Roskomnadzor's special Web site has received 5,000 reports of child pornography on Web sites, of which 4,800 were discounted, in the past 24 hours, Roskomnadzor press officer Vladimir Pikov told Interfax.

"As for the remaining 200 reports, 190 are still being evaluated and another ten are in the register of information the dissemination of which is prohibited on the territory of the Russian Federation," he said.

Roskomnadzor has already sent ten notifications to hosting providers reporting information prohibited by law on their Web sites.

"They all are to contact the owner and all these things are to be removed within 48 hours," Pikov said.

Pikov also said experts had expected 3,500-4,000 reports of Web sites with child pornography a month.

"This indicator has turned out to be much higher. But we are dealing with it," he said.
