Moscow may consider deployment of UN peacekeepers in Syria - diplomat

Russia is ready to discuss the deployment of UN peacekeepers in Syria with consent of the Syrian government and under a UN Security Council resolution, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov told reporters on Sunday.

"When we speak about guaranteed (ceasefire in Syria), we are ready to consider the deployment of observers, UN peacekeepers, naturally, with consent of the Syrian government and under a relevant resolution of the UN Security Council," he said.

The diplomat explained that "a resolution would be necessary with regard to UN observers."
