Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent a congratulatory message to Barack Obama on his reelection in the U.S. presidential elections, Putin's spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
"We can make public the text of the message after the American side receives it," he said.
"In general, the Kremlin took the news about Barack Obama's victory in the elections very positively," Peskov said.
"We have the hope that positive initiatives in bilateral relations and in Russian-U.S. interaction on the international arena in the interests of international security and stability will be developed and improved," he added.
"We expect Vladimir Putin to congratulate Barack Obama on winning the elections in a personal telephone conversation in the near future," Peskov said.
