Twenty-one sites were removed from list of banned sites after deleting illegal content - Roskomnadzor

Twenty-one sites have been removed from the list of prohibited sites, the Roskomnadzor press service reported on Wednesday.

"Twenty-one entries were removed from the register of information whose dissemination is prohibited on the territory of the Russian Federation over the past three days. These entries include links and the IP address of the website lurkmore.to, links to some pages on the social networking site Vkontakte, and the site rutracker.org," the press service reported.

All entries are removed from the list of prohibited information only after notification is received from the owners of websites stating they have fulfilled the legal requirements of Roskomnadzor and after the information is checked by Roskomnadzor experts.

The provisions of the law on the protection of children from information "inflicting harm on their health and development" dealing with restrictions of user access to illegal information in the Internet took effect on Nov. 1. The document allows the blocking of websites using their IP addresses. Websites containing information prohibited by a court ruling can be included in the register. Websites can also be included in the register without a court ruling based on decisions made by relevant authorities.
