In this article we wrote about how Diwali is celebrated in different parts of Russia. The Indian Business Alliance in Moscow held a party of its own in Moscow. Among the guests at the Maitri (friendship) celebration were Ajai Malhotra, India’s ambassador to Russia, Deepika Karnani, principal of the Indian Embassy School and eminent members of the Indian business community in Moscow.
There were several well-known Russian guests as well at the party. In this video, Vladimir Zhirinovsky, the leader of the Liberal Democratic Party, conveys his best wishes for the New Year. Several parts of India celebrate the New Year on Diwali day. The colourful and at times controversial politician has long been considered a friend of India.
