Muscovite Jewish community demonstrates solidarity Israel

Jews will gather at the Jewish community center in Maryina Roshcha in northeastern Moscow  prays for peace in Israel on Tuesday evening, said Russia's Chief Rabbi Berel Lazar.

"Our hearts and prayers are with our brothers and sisters in the Holy Land, especially with soldiers of the Israeli Defense Army," the Rabbi said in a statement, received by Interfax.

"The Jewish people have never wanted to fight, as life is their most treasured value whatever the person's origin, color of the skin or convictions," he said.

The Israeli Defense Army's counter-terrorist operation is 'the only possibility to defend civilians and to guarantee their peaceful life in their own land," Lazar said.

What the Jewish community can do to help their brothers is to express their solidarity, he said. "Our ancient history teaches us that we get the greatest blessing from God when we demonstrate fraternal love, solidarity and unity," Berel Lazar said.

He urged all Muscovite Jews to come and join the prayer for peace.
