Investigators are planning to open a new criminal case into major embezzlement through companies controlled by the Russian Defense Ministry in the near future, a law enforcement source told Interfax.
"Military prosecutors are finishing the collection of the necessary materials, which will be forwarded to investigative agencies for opening a criminal case on major fraud charges," the source said.
He declined to specify details and the essence of the future case, noting only that "the matter involves embezzlement of dozens or possibly even hundreds of millions of rubles allocated from the budget for defense needs."
"In its scale and repercussions, the new criminal case will be similar to the Oboronservice and Slavyanka cases," he said.
