Putin points out importance of final stage of preparations for Olympics

Russian President Vladimir Putin has called on the ministries and agencies involved in the organization of the 2014 Sochi Olympics to complete the projects that have been started.

"I can't help but agree and I am pointing out to all my colleagues that the final stage is the most important and the most responsible one," Putin said at the meeting addressing the preparations for the Olympics that took place during his trip to Krasnaya Polyana on a high-speed train on a new railroad.

Putin recalled that over 80 percent of the funds that will be spent on the preparations for the Olympics are used for infrastructure objects.

"The Olympics are a holiday. In a situation when the world cannot get out of the world financial crisis, it's a positive signal not only to our country, but a signal coming from our country aimed at raising people's mood and showing that we don't only have problems, but also have a holiday. I think the people of Russia deserve a holiday," Putin said.

Putin pointed out that Russian athletes should have an opportunity to train in all objects "so that we can have a natural competitive advantage by being in our native facilities."
