Russia has scientific capabilities and technologies to appropriately respond to possible militarization processes in outer space, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Col. Gen. Oleg Ostapenko told the country's news agencies.
"Any action will always meet with counteraction," the general said, answering a question from Interfax-AVN.
"There are certain documents that ban the placement of weapons in outer space," he said.
"We, military people, are getting ready to respond to any scenarios. We shall see. As far as our state, our Fatherland, is concerned, we will not hesitate to respond to any such measures. But we will not be the first to act," Ostapenko said.
