Moscow regrets the launch of a long-range rocket by North Korea and believes that this step could hinder economic cooperation programs in the North-East Asia region.
"The new rocket launch performed by North Korea, contrary to the international community's opinion, including calls by Russia, causes our deep regret," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
"This step by North Korea violates UN Security Council Resolution 1874 unambiguously prohibiting the DPRK's rocket launches using ballistic technologies. The Russian Federation believes it is unacceptable for UN member-states to ignore decisions by its main body responsible for maintaining international peace and security," it said.
"This new rocket launch carried out by Pyongyang will not promote stability and will have a negative effect on the general situation in Northeast Asia. It seriously hampers the implementation of promising programs and multilateral economic cooperation in the region," it said.
