Police detain 4 near Federation Council building for protesting anti-adoption bill

Moscow police have detained four people near the Federation Council building in central Moscow, who were protesting against a bill banning the adoption of Russian children by U.S. citizens, which the Federation Council is to consider on Wednesday.

The protesters were holding banners criticizing the bill near the entrance to the Federation Council building.

Police also stepped up security measures around the Federation Council building. The neighborhood surrounding the building has been cordoned off, and only people having official IDs can pass through the cordon now.

Five police buses and several police cars have also been parked near the entrance to the Federation Council building.
