Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich has dismissed reports that assault ships could be used to evacuate Russian citizens from Syria as journalistic speculation.
"Certainly, I will not comment on any ships, etc. It is largely journalistic speculation. Many journalists are tying very different things together," Lukashevich said at a press briefing in Moscow.
"It is a sensitive topic. We cannot and will not discuss any details for understandable reasons. But, nevertheless, we certainly have plans. The situation is getting more complicated. One ought to be prepared to respond to any scenarios," he said.
The security of Russian citizens is a priority for the Foreign Ministry, he added.
