Moscow does not reject dialogue with Syria's opposition National Coalition

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich has not ruled out the possibility of contacts with the National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces.

"We are not rejecting this dialogue. On the contrary, we are holding it very vigorously with all opposition groups who are also interested in gaining a better insight into the Russian approach," Lukashevich said at a press briefing in Moscow on Thursday.

"That is why we certainly do not rule out such contacts. But it is obviously another thing when and at what level they will take place," he said.

The National Coalition for Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces was formed by the Syrian opposition at a conference in Qatar in November. More than 100 countries, including the United States, have recognized the newly united Syrian opposition as the legitimate representative of the Syrian people.
