Photo exhibition “The Battle of Stalingrad” opened in the RCSC, Chennai

On February 6, at the Russian Centre of Science and Culture was held the opening of the photo exhibition “The Battle of Stalingrad”, dedicated to the 71st anniversary of the defeat of German forces at Stalingrad and timed to the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

On February 6, at the Russian Centre of Science and Culture was held the opening of the photo exhibition “The Battle of Stalingrad”, dedicated to the 71st anniversary of the defeat of German forces at Stalingrad and timed to the 70th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. 

The event was conducted in conjunction with the Madras Film Society.

Mr. Mikhail Gorbatov, Deputy Head of mission Rossotrudnichestvo in India and Director of RCSC, Chennai spoke about the one of the decisive battles of the Second World War - the battle of Stalingrad. In his speech he stressed that the memory of the battle of Stalingrad is the memory of the great national heroism, patriotism, unity and courage. He also announced that in the RCSC every Saturday at 18 hours, there will be screenings of films and documentaries about World War II.

Mr. Ragupathy, President of Madras Film Society, proudly noted that the hero-city Volgograd is a sister city of Chennai and expressed the opinion of all those present on the need for an objective coverage of the history and preservation of the memory of the heroes who fell in the struggle against the aggressors.

The exhibition will be open until February 14.
