Dmitri Hvorostovsky to return to the opera stage in New York

Baritone will perform as Count di Luna in Il Trovatore in fall dates.

Opera singer Dmitri Hvorostovsky, who is currently undergoing treatment for a brain tumor, will appear at the Metropolitan Opera in New York on Sept. 25 and 29 and on Oct. 3.

"Following a positive round of ongoing treatments, Dmitri Hvorostovsky looks forward to returning to the stage this month for three performances as Count di Luna in Verdi’s Il Trovatore," states the singer's official site.

Anna Netrebko is debuting in the opera as Leonora, while Yonghoon Lee will play the part of troubadour Manrico.

After the performances Hvorostovsky will head to London to continue the treatment.
