The rise of the robots will give humans more leisure, says Russian official.

The St. Petersburg Economic Forum brings good news and hope for all Russians. Friday could become an extension of the weekend holiday in 15 years, said Sergey Shvetsov, First Deputy Governor of the Bank of Russia, Gazeta. ru writes.

"It's very important to expand the functions of robots in order to increase labor productivity, and I’m sure that in about 15 years we’ll seriously discuss whether Friday should become a weekend day," he said at the Economic Forum on June 2. "Because our medicine and labor productivity are improving we will soon face the question, what will all these people do."

Shvetsov also noted that if a three-day weekend will be introduced then it will open new economic sectors devoted to servicing people's leisure time. He pointed out that currently about 2 percent of Russia's population feeds the rest of the country, and this figure will continue to decrease in the future.
