Belorussian President Alexander Lukashenko and Chinese leader Xi Jinping have met to discuss the implementation of the Silk Road projects, the Belorussian leader's press office said.
"You once said that a relationship between countries depends on the proximity of their people. I am certain Belarus will become a major hub in the implementation of these large-scale projects (the Silk Road Economic Belt and the Maritime Silk Road of the 21st century) in the Eurasian region, thereby bringing our people and our states even closer," Lukashenko said at a meeting with Xi in Minsk on Sunday.
This will also be facilitated by the launch of direct flights between Minsk and Beijing, Lukashenko said.
The Chinese leader is in Belarus on a state visit on May 10-12.
