Bolshoi Sport magazine to host award ceremony for Sochi winners

Bolshoi Sport magazine, in partnership with the international sports organization Laureus Sport for Good and informational support from Russia Beyond the Headlines, will hold a ceremony in Moscow on May 20 titled “Sochi – Moscow – Rio”.



As part of the campaign, Russian Olympic gold medalists will be gathering at the Vetoshny Art Center to receive awards presented by Bolshoi Sport magazine. During the ceremony, Russia Beyond the Headlines will award a prize to athletes “for the popularization of Russia as a sporting power”.

The event is becoming a tradition, with the previous ceremony being held in October last year. At that ceremony, Alexei Nemov and his friends wished the athletes success ahead of the Olympics, whereas the new meeting will serve as a celebration for Sochi gold medalists.



“I really hope that the triumph of the Russian Olympic team that was on display at the Olympics in Sochi will be repeated in Rio in 2016,” said Bolshoi Sport Editor-in-Chief and four-time Olympic champion Alexei Nemov.



"Today, preparations for the Brazilian Games reached their final stages, and for that reason it’s time to shift our focus on victory from the winter to the summer, which is what we did on May 20, at our Friends of Bolshoi Sport event."
