KazanSummit 2014: an international economic summit for Russia and OIC countries

KazanSummit, the international economic summit for Russia and countries of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), is set to take place 5-6 June 2014 in the Russian city of Kazan located in the Republic of Tatarstan. This year marks the sixth time KazanSummit will be held.

In the past six years, KazanSummit has earned authority and international recognition across the Islamic world, Europe, Asia, and America. Every year KazanSummitwelcomes delegations from state entities and religious authorities of Russia and the more developed Islamic countries; ambassadors and parliamentarians of OIC countries; top managers of international companies; heads of investment funds; private investors, businessmen, and analysts; and experts from more than 40 countries worldwide.

The main event of KazanSummit will be the Strategic Forum, where summit guests and participants will talk about Russia’s cooperation with OIC countries, in particular, related to issues of food security. Among the honoured guests invited to KazanSummit 2014 are: the Secretary General of the OIC Iyad bin Amin Madani, President of the Islamic Development Bank Group Dr Ahmad Mohamed Ali, and Chairman of the Council of the Federation of Russia Valentin Matvienko.

For the first time at the summit a Tartarstan-Emirates Business Forum will be held, where participants will include delegations from the United Arab Emirates led by the Minister of Finance Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansoori.

Furthermore, KazanSummit will host the Forum on Urbanisation, where experts will discuss modern tendencies in the field of urban planning and development using the examples of major Tatarstan projects (‘Smart City Kazan’ and ‘Innopolis’)

The KazanSummit is a universal economic platform for expanding borders of trade cooperation, forming new business contacts, and becoming acquainted with government officials and business structures in Russia and countries of Southeast Asia, the Persian Gulf, and the CIS.
