Seven Russian companies among Top 100 defense contractors

Defense News publishes list of biggest arms companies

The U.S.-based magazine Defense News has included seven Russian defense contractors in its 2016 Top 100 ranking of the world's biggest defense companies. The full list has been published on the magazine's website.

The Almaz-Antey Concern was ranked the highest of the Russian firms. The 2015 defense revenue of the company reached $6.965 billion. Due to the actual currency rates, the revenue significantly dropped down from the 2014 result ($9.209 billion). The Almaz-Antey Concern earned a total of $6.965 billion in 2015, according to the Top 100 2016 list.

The United Aircraft Corporation (OAK) held the 16th rank (the 14th rank in Top 100 2015). The company earned a defense revenue of $4.643 billion in 2015, a 25.63 percent down from the 2014 result ($6.244 billion).

The Russian Helicopters holding reached the 25th rank (the 23rd rank in Top 100 2015), having earned a defense revenue of $3.193 billion in 2015 ($3.96 billion in 2014).

JSC Tactical Missiles Corporation (KTRV) held the 37th rank (the 31st rank in Top 100 2015). The company earned a defense revenue of $2.387 billion in 2015 ($2.147 billion in 2014).

The Concern Radio-Electronic Technologies (KRET, a subsidiary of the Rostec state corporation) was included for the first time in the Top 100 list. The company held the 48th rank, having earned a defense revenue of $1.678 billion in 2015.

The Uralvagonzavod scientific-production corporation dropped to the 60th rank in the list (the 52nd rank in Top 100 2015). The company earned a defense revenue of $1.014 billion in 2015 ($1.545 billion in 2014).

The RTI-Systemy Concern held the 83rd rank in the list (the 69th rank in Top 100 2015), having received a defense revenue of $660 million in 2015 ($947 million in 2015).
