During the last two decades, the poverty level in Russia has fallen by a third, from 40 % to
14 % of the population living below the poverty line. Yet millions of Russians still need outside
support to survive. When the state fails to provide such support, it is the turn of civil society to
offer a helping hand to those in need. Volunteers from Kazan try to feed all the hungry in their city with help of the charity project “Actions and not words”.
