Folk box: Tatar music

Each week Olga Shapovalova offers to folk music lovers a multicoloured display of customs and traditions, legends and tales, melodies and rythms of Russia and it's numerous ethnic diasporas.

Tatars, the people we are going to speak of, are scattered probably everywhere across Russia –the European part, the Urals, Siberia and the Far East. And also all across the world – there is a vast number of Tatar diasporas, one of the largest, strange as it may seem, is in Finland. But the Tatars have their own republic – Tatarstan – that’s on the River Volga. We invite you to join us on a fascinating trip.
